Hot, Hot, Hot!

Well as many of you probably heard we are in the middle of a heat wave. It was 98 degrees here in CT today. Now I know that you are saying "gee Virginia weren't you born in Arizona", and yes that may be true, but now I am one girl who is having a hard time living without an A/C. First in my car. Second at the school I work at.

When I woke up this morning I jumped in the shower and began my morning rituals. Including watching the Today show. Well to my surprise way down at the bottom their was a "bottom line" announcing school closures and early dismissals. My eyes brightened with the thought of an early out day! Patiently I watched for my district to come up but alas.... nada! No early out day for me! I was bummed.

Well I ate my breakfast and hurried out the door, box fan in hand. When I arrived at the school we all looked at each other with those familiar here we go faces. I found myself spending just a little extra time in the schools office, library, and teachers room. All air conditioned of course. Back in my classroom I shut all the blinds and turned my lonely box fan up to the highest level. Shortly there after the students arrived. To my surprise they seemed very low key, almost like they were there to learn. Those of you who are teachers know at this time of year that is a very strange occurrence.

The temperature in the classroom was soaring. The kids did great. We planted sprout houses talked about the double oo sound and ou. I felt like I was doing some quality teaching! Then our principal walked in and pointed to a paper and said this is what time you are going to lunch today (10:30) and this is what time we are dismissing at (1:00). I was surprised and a little disappointed at the same time. You know quality teaching and all.

Overall it was a very good thing that they dismissed school early. It really was way too hot in the school, and the air quality was really terrible. Tomorrow is going to be just as hot if not hotter. Maybe another early out day or school canceled. Either way one place I am thankful to have A/C is our Apt. I keep you posted on what happens tomorrow!

He's a BIG boy!

Well today we got the best surprise in the mail. Pictures of our nephew, and soon to be godson. I just had to share. He is getting so big! We can not wait to see him in a few weeks for his baptism! Love Ya T.J.!

5 months old and already on to solid foods. As Mike would say, he is "zie uber baby!"

Meet Teakey!

Teakey lives with my parents in UT. She is my favorite puppy!
I know that she is not exactly a puppy, but to me she always will be.

I have never felt such a connection to a dog like I have to Teakey.
I miss her *almost* as much as I miss my family.

What a sweet boy. Congrats again He & She Roos!
I will be back in July for some more snuggles!

What! I missed April!

Wow! Where did April go? I didn't even have enough time in one month to make a new post. Hopefully I will make up for it this month by getting in at least 2. The good news is that we had a great vacation to Utah in April that I can share now. We spent 9 wonderful days back home.

While home we decided to go skiing and snowboarding. Mike learned when he was in college but never went snowboarding up in S.L.C. So we took him up to Brighton. He loved every second of it. My parents also joined us. I started the day snowboarding. Then after spending most of the day on my bum decided to try my mom's new shape skis. They were totally awesome! I did not sit down once. My sister is probably laughing at me right now because if you have ever seen me on a snowboard I sit down about every 5 feet. It was a beautiful day and we had a wonderful time!

We also had some quality time with our families. Luckily our parents hit it off right away after we introduced them all those years ago. They do things together even when we are not around. We are just one big happy family.

Spring Has Sprung

Well being a kid at heart every Easter I buy a pack of .99 cent dye. Mike just looks at me a smiles. Secretly I think he really likes dying the eggs every year. The first time he met my parents we dyed Easter eggs.
This Easter we were invited to a lunch. So Mike made eggplant parmesan and I made deviled eggs. Making deviled eggs takes no time at all but the parmesan takes hours. We prepared it the day before Easter and it took about 7 hours. It was worth it, it was so yummy!
It was a great Easter. It was hard being away from family but my husband makes all those frog in the throat feelings fade away. Love you Hubbins.
